Disclosure walkthrough
Directors often reach the notes last, if at all. A disclosure walkthrough pulls the material footnotes forward and draws each one against the line it explains. Revenue disaggregation, lease maturity, expected credit loss, fair-value hierarchy, related parties, and contingencies are typical pages. Boilerplate that does not move a decision is left in a short appendix rather than dressed as analysis.
We will say, in writing, when a required note appears thin relative to the transactions described in management’s own commentary. We will not draft the note for the auditor’s file. The walkthrough can be commissioned on its own or bound into a period-end briefing.
Bring the current note file and last year’s signed statements. If the auditor has already commented on disclosures, include that letter.
